Milky Way and Arch at Newark Castle, St Monan's.
Sometimes as a photographer, it's the unplanned shots that turn out the best. You can have all the ideas in the world about what will and what will not work but at the end of the day you are at the mercy of the light. Luckily, this time the light was in my favour. This is a shot of an archway at Newark Castle which is just outside St. Monan's, Fife. The Milky Way was thenkfully visible and could be lined up behind the archway. I didn't notice at the time but the Andromeda galaxy is also visible on the left of the photo (about two thirds of the way up) and so is the Triangulum Galaxy which looks like a bright star just up and to the left of Andromeda!
